RHC was founded in 1911 by the City of Winnipeg as the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital, offering care for people with communicable diseases. Today, RHC offers progressive programming for its patients and residents in various health related services: Stroke Rehabilitation, Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation, Respiratory/Ventilator Care, Long-term Care, Alzheimer/Dementia Care, Palliative Care and Day Hospital/Out Patient Care.
Riverview Health Centre Foundation was established in 1985 with a mission to raise funds and awareness for RHC to enhance the care of its residents and patients through programming, equipment and research.
